The GEL-NYC 2055 draws design influences from various archival running shoes released in the early 2000s.

Its upper construction references the GT-2050 and GT-2060 running shoes. Key details from these silhouettes can be found on the ASICS stripes, heel counter, and eyelet structure of the shoe.

The midsole system of the GEL-CUMULUS 16 offers a contrast to the retro influences of the upper. The midsole, with a combination of lightweight foam and GEL technology inserts, offers enhanced comfort.
